Carbon Roots is collaborating with the Elizabeth Street Community Garden to integrate carbon-sequestering elements into an already thriving community space. This project will demonstrate how carbon sink principles can enhance existing gardens, expanding their environmental benefits while involving and educating the local community.
The Keyport Community Garden Partnership showcases a practical and collaborative approach to climate action. By introducing carbon-sequestering plants into an established garden, we aim to enhance the garden's ecological impact and inspire residents to implement similar strategies in their own backyards. Volunteers will support garden design, planting, and ongoing care to maintain a vibrant, carbon-absorbing space.
We're seeking community members with various skills and interests to help make this project a success. No prior experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
This project will also feature community workshops focused on carbon gardening techniques, empowering residents to create their own small-scale carbon sinks at home.
Through hands-on learning, educational signage, and local events, we aim to deepen understanding of carbon sequestration and community climate action.
